Customizing the starter prompts
Starter prompts are available every time that members of a tenant start a new chat in the watsonx Orchestrate Beta chat. When users click the card of a starter prompt, they automatically send the message of the prompt in the chat. You can customize starter prompts to help people to get started on specific use cases.
Before you begin
As the watsonx Orchestrate Beta chat is a beta preview, you might need to request access to it in your tenant. For instructions on how to request access, see Using the watsonx Orchestrate Beta chat.

Tips for writing effective starter prompts
Starter prompts are typically short, open-ended questions or statements that are meant to help people with various use cases. Use the following tips to write effective starter prompts:
-
Write a clear title: Write a title that clearly informs users what using the start prompt does for them. For example, the "Write an email to onboard a new customer" title informs what the starter prompt asks for in the chat.
-
Write a detailed description of what the prompt does: Describe the prompt in detail by outlining the purpose and scope of it to provide context and background information. For example, "Generates a content to onboard a new customer over email".
-
Provide context in the prompt message: Be specific and provide context in the prompt message. Include relevant background information, definitions, or explanations to help the model generate more accurate responses. For example, instead of "Write an email", try "Write an email to onboard a new customer. The email must outline the benefits and advantages that the use of our product delivers to the customer business.".
-
Include AI assistant's capabilities: If you want to route to a specific AI assistant, include the keywords that are related to the domain that the AI assistant covers in the prompt message.
