Logging in to IBM watsonx Orchestrate

Get started with watsonx Orchestrate by learning how to access the platform for the first time. Whether you're using the IBM Cloud or AWS, AWS GovCloud or On Premises version the guide walks you through the login process step by step.

Create your IBMid

To log in to watsonx Orchestrate, you need an IBMid.

Proceed with the following steps to create your IBMid:

  1. On the watsonx Orchestrate login page, click Create an IBMid or you can use the link Sign up for My IBM account.
  2. Complete the following details:
    • Email and Password
    • Country or region of residence
    • State or province
  3. Click Next to receive a verification email.
  4. Enter the 7-digit verification code from the email.
  5. Click Create account.

Now, you can use your IBMid to log in to watsonx Orchestrate.

Logging in to IBM watsonx Orchestrate on Amazon Web Services (AWS)


Access watsonx Orchestrate from the Welcome email you received upon purchasing the watsonx Orchestrate platform. Follow the steps to log in:

  1. Open the Welcome email.
  2. Create your IBMid, if you do not have one.
  3. Click the access URL provided in the email.
  4. Log in using your IBMid credentials.
  5. Enter your IBMid's username and password.
  6. Accept the terms and conditions set by your admin.

Great! Now that you acknowledged the terms and conditions, you're all set to dive into watsonx Orchestrate and start exploring.

Notes:

  • You might be automatically logged in and redirected to the watsonx Orchestrate landing page while switching between environments - for example, logging in to the IBM SaaS console and then starting a watsonx Orchestrate instance. It is an expected behavior, which is enabled by IBM’s shared authentication model, where a single IBMUniqueID supports seamless single sign-on (SSO) across IBM applications. Previously, you were prompted to enter credentials for each environment, but now, if you're already signed in to one, the login screen is skipped in others.
  • To switch between different watsonx Orchestrate credentials in the same browser session, clear the browsing data linked to the previous IBMid before logging in with new credentials.

SSO login to IBM watsonx Orchestrate on Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Single Sign-on (SSO) login provides a convenient way for you to access IBM watsonx Orchestrate by using your company domain credentials instead of creating a separate account for watsonx Orchestrate. The instance administrator for watsonx Orchestrate must register your company domain name to use SSO. For more information, see SSO registration for watsonx Orchestrate.

Following are the steps to access watsonx Orchestrate by using SSO login:

  1. On the watsonx Orchestrate login page, click Log in with SSO.
    You are taken to the SSO login page.
  2. Provide your domain information under "Enter your company domain", for example, your_company_domain.
  3. Click Next.
    You are redirected to your organization’s login page.
  4. Specify your company domain credentials and click Next.

You are now redirected to the watsonx Orchestrate's landing page.

SSO registration for watsonx Orchestrate

To enable SSO login with watsonx Orchestrate, your instance administrator must register and configure the company domain with watsonx Orchestrate. The administrator must contact IBM Support to request the registration by providing the following information:

  1. Contact details (name, email, phone number, times of availability, time zone) of your team that IBM can call back to complete the SSO registration.
  2. General environment details, such as the tenant CRN string.
Note: You do not need to provide any sensitive information in the support ticket.

The support team schedules a meeting with the development team to assist you with the registration process. Keep the following SSO configuration information ready for the follow-up meeting with IBM.

  • Single sign-on option: OIDC or SAML.
  • Tenant ID: The tenant ID of the instance in the production environment.
  • Client ID (App ID): The customer secret ID, or if the method is SAML, keep the XML Metadataexchange file.
  • Secret ID: The customer secret ID.
  • Customer Endpoint: Well-known endpoint.

Logging in to IBM watsonx Orchestrate on AWS GovCloud (US)

AWS GovCloud (US) is a specialized cloud region offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). It is designed for U.S. government agencies, contractors, and organizations that handle sensitive or regulated data. It provides a secure, compliant, and isolated environment for workloads that must meet strict regulatory standards.

To access watsonx Orchestrate, refer to the Welcome email you received upon onboarding to the watsonx Orchestrate platform. Follow these steps to log in:

The following are the steps to access watsonx Orchestrate:

  1. Open the Welcome email you received during onboarding.
  2. Create your IBMid if you do not already have one.
  3. Click the access URL provided in the email. This takes you to the IBM SaaS console.
  4. Log in using your IBMid credentials.
  5. On the Subscriptions page, locate your watsonx Orchestrate entry.
  6. Click View subscription details or View instances to open your instance.
  7. Click Open. You are redirected to the watsonx Orchestrate login page.
  8. Log in again using your IBMid credentials to confirm access.

You're all set! You can start exploring watsonx Orchestrate.

Logging in to IBM watsonx Orchestrate on IBM Cloud


The following procedure shows how to log in to watsonx Orchestrate on IBM Cloud:

  1. On the IBM Cloud console, start your IBM watsonx Orchestrate instance from the resource list. For more information on how to search for your instance, see Try out IBM Cloud .
  2. Acknowledge the terms and conditions that are set by your admin.

You're all set to dive into watsonx Orchestrate and start exploring.

Logging in to IBM watsonx Orchestrate on-premises


After installation, create the service instance, and give users access to your on-premises instance:

  1. Log in to your On-premises environment (for example, IBM Cloud Pak for Data or IBM Software Hub).
  2. Go to Services > Instances.
  3. In the watsonx Orchestrate service, click the vertical ellipsis ⋮, and select Open.

You are redirected to the watsonx Orchestrate home page.

Switching tenants

If your account has access to more than one tenant in watsonx Orchestrate, you can easily switch between them without needing separate accounts. It is useful when you're working across different teams, departments, or client environments.

You can switch tenants using the following methods:

Switching tenants by logging out

Follow the procedure to switch tenants by logging out from watsonx Orchestrate and then logging in:

  1. Click the profile icon.
  2. Select Log out.
  3. Log in to watsonx Orchestrate.
  4. Select the tenant that you want to access.
Information: When you log out and log in again to watsonx Orchestrate, your email address is pre-filled and you are not prompted to enter the password. It is an expected behavior related to Single Sign-On (SSO) systems. Logging out of watsonx Orchestrate does not log you out of IBMid.

Switching tenants using the help menu

Follow the procedure to switch the tenant by using the help menu:

  1. Close all other browser tabs or windows where watsonx Orchestrate is open. This feature works best when only one instance is active.
  2. On the watsonx Orchestrate UI, click the help icon (?).
  3. Select Switch account.
  4. You are redirected to the following page: https://dl.watson-orchestrate.ibm.com/landing/accounts
  5. From there, choose the tenant that you want to switch to.
