The Jira family of products includes Jira Software for release tracking, Jira Service Desk for customer support, and Jira Core for project management. This document describes how to connect IBM watsonx Orchestrate to Jira and use its skills on watsonx Orchestrate.

Before you begin

To connect watsonx Orchestrate to Jira, make sure that you have a Jira account. If you don't have a Jira account, you can create one at try Jira for free.

Connecting to Jira

Connect to the app according to the credential type that you or your team want to use.

If you want to connect the app to the Orchestrate Agent skill set, skill sets from AI assistants, or the Team skill set with Team credentials, refer to Managing app connections.

If you want to connect to the app to the Personal skill set or the Team skill set with Member credentials, refer to Connecting to apps.

Configuring the connection

To connect watsonx Orchestrate to Jira, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Connect app.
  2. In the Jira host and port field, specify the URL of the domain-specific Jira service that you use to log in to the portal.
    • For Jira Cloud, if your domain is abc, the service URL is https://abc.atlassian.net.

    • For Jira Server, the service URL is in the format https://myjirahost:port.

  3. Specify the User name.
    • For Jira Cloud, enter the email address that you use to log in to your Atlassian account.

    • For Jira Server, enter the username that you use to log in to Jira.

  4. Enter the Password or API token.
    • For Jira Cloud, enter the API token that you generate from your Atlassian account. For more information on creating an API token, see API tokens on the Atlassian website.

    • For Jira Server, enter the password that you use to log in to Jira.

  5. Click Connect app.
Note: The icon A green check icon appears to show that the app is connected. indicates that the connection was successfully established.

accountName The ID that identifies your account, which is your email address.
