Connecting to Workday HCM

Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) is a leading HR application used in large enterprises for talent hiring, employee operations, payroll and benefits management activities.

To use external applications with IBM watsonx Orchestrate, you must establish a connection that enables communication between them. See Managing connections for more details.

Connecting to Workday HCM

To connect watsonx Orchestrate to Workday HCM:

  1. From the main menu, select Manage > Connections.

  2. Search for the Workday HCM application.

  3. Find the connection with the following connection ID: workday_base_key_value_ibm_184bdbd3

  4. For the matched connection ID, click edit Edit icon.

  5. Choose the environment to create the connection: draft or live.

  6. In the Authentication type field, select Key Value Pair.

  7. Add the following keys and their respective values:

    • base_url
    • token_url
    • tenant_name
    • client_id

  8. Click Save.

Note: The icon A green check icon appears. indicates that the connection was successfully established.

Connecting to Workday HCM Employee

To connect watsonx Orchestrate to Workday HCM Employee:

  1. From the main menu, select Manage > Connections.

  2. Search for the Workday HCM Employee application.

  3. Find the connection with the following connection ID: workday_employee_key_value_ibm_184bdbd3

  4. For the matched connection ID, click edit Edit icon.

  5. Choose the environment to create the connection: draft or live.

  6. In the Authentication type field, select Key Value Pair.

  7. Add the following keys and their respective values:

    • bearer_token
    • refresh_token

  8. Click Save.

Note: The icon A green check icon appears. indicates that the connection was successfully established.

Connecting to Workday HCM Manager

To connect watsonx Orchestrate to Workday HCM Manager:

  1. From the main menu, select Manage > Connections.

  2. Search for Workday HCM Manager.

  3. Find the connection ID with the following structure: workday_manager_key_value_ibm_184bdbd3.

  4. For the matched connection ID, click Edit.

  5. Choose the environment to create the connection: draft or live.

  6. Select the Authentication Type as Key Value Pair.

  7. Provide the following Keys, click Add new field to add additional key-value pairs:

    • bearer_token
    • refresh_token

    For all Value fields insert the value corresponding to the key.

  8. Select the credential type.

  9. Click Save.

Note: The icon A green check icon appears. indicates that the connection was successfully established.
