Connecting to SAP SuccessFactors

SAP SuccessFactors is a cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) solution that helps organizations manage their workforce more effectively. It supports a wide range of HR functions including employee onboarding, performance management, payroll, learning, and succession planning. By integrating SAP SuccessFactors with IBM watsonx Orchestrate, you can automate HR operations, synchronize employee data, and streamline workforce-related workflows.

To integrate SAP SuccessFactors with IBM watsonx Orchestrate, you need to establish a secure connection that enables both systems to communicate seamlessly. For general guidance on managing integrations, refer to Connecting apps for prebuilt agents.

Note:

The Single sign-on (SSO) toggle is enabled only for supported OAuth 2.0 authentication types and applications. If the application does not support an SSO-enabled authentication type, the toggle remains disabled. For supported configurations, see Configuring single sign-on for applications.

Steps to connect

Use the following steps to connect SAP SuccessFactors to watsonx Orchestrate:

  1. From the main menu, go to Manage > Security.

    Important:

    In the on-premises environment, use the Manage > Connections navigation path to access connections.

  2. Click the Connections tab and search for the corresponding app name or the SAP SuccessFactors Connection ID.

  3. Click edit next to the matching connection ID.

  4. Select the authentication method your organization uses. See Supported authentication methods for more details.

  5. Enter the SAP SuccessFactors‑specific fields for the selected authentication type. See Connecting apps for prebuilt agents page for general connection workflow.

  6. Complete the Draft and Live setup steps.

  7. Save and test the connection to confirm successful connection.

Authentication methods

SAP SuccessFactors supports the following authentication types in watsonx Orchestrate:

  1. Basic Auth

  2. Key Value Pair

  3. Multi Auth

Connection ID

Use the following Connection ID when locating your SAP SuccessFactors connection in the Connections settings page. To understand how to search for a Connection ID and open a connection for editing, see Connecting apps for prebuilt agents.

Basic Auth

Supports Basic Auth only. The Basic Auth option is auto-selected.

Key Value Pair

sap_successfactors_key_value_ibm_184bdbd3 (deprecated)

Requires team credentials.

Basic authentication connection details

If your organization uses Basic Authentication, set Authentication type to Basic Auth. No additional fields are required beyond the credentials provided in the credential type configuration.

Your SAP SuccessFactors administrator can provide the server URL and required user credentials or API tokens.

Key Value Pair connection details

If your organization uses API keys or a legacy configuration, set Authentication type to Key Value Pair and add each of the following fields using Add new field:
