Getting started with Governance console

Set up your profile in Governance console. Your Governance console profile determines the dashboard, object types, fields, workflows, and views that you have access to.

Administrators create profiles and assign them to users and groups. Depending on how your administrator configured Governance console, you might have one profile or several profiles. When you open Governance console, you start with the default profile that your administrator set up for you.

Before you begin

Verify that the steps in Integrating IBM watsonx.governance on IBM Cloud with Governance console were completed by an administrator.

Opening the Governance console

You can open the Governance console directly from watsonx.governance. Use one of the following methods:
  1. Log in to IBM watsonx.
  2. To open the Governance console, do one of the following steps:
    • Use the URL that you copied in 2.c of Getting the API key and fixed URL.
    • Click Navigation menu Navigation menu icon > AI governance > Manage > General. Click Go to IBM OpenPages. The Governance console task view opens.

You are logged in to Governance console.

Creating use cases

Use cases are the foundation for governing and tracking AI assets in Governance console. When you create a use case, you can define its name, description, purpose, and owner, and then associate it with a business entity. If you are using watsonx.governance Model Management, the use case is also added to the watsonx.governance inventory so that all governed assets are visible in one place.

Configuring Governance console for business users

As an administrator, you can tailor the Governance console experience for your organization by configuring security, profiles, dashboards, views, workflows, and other settings. Configuring these elements ensures that each business user sees the information and functionality that is relevant to their role.

Configuring Governance Graph

The Governance Graph is a dashboard tab that visualizes the structure and scale of your governance data. It displays the object types in your solution as interactive nodes so that you can explore hierarchical relationships and drill down into individual objects. As an administrator, you can add the Governance Graph tab to a profile dashboard and configure solutions for the graph.

Exploring governance data with the Governance Graph

After the Governance Graph is configured, you can use it to get a visual overview of your governance data and drill down to examine individual objects and their relationships. Click nodes in the solutions graph to view object lists, filter and search results, and open the relationship tree to see how objects are connected.

What to do next

  1. If your administrator set you up with multiple profiles, you can change profiles by using Change Profile on the Governance console User menu User menu icon.
    The User menu is shown. Change Profile is highlighted.
    Note: If you do not see Change Profile in the menu, you have only one profile available.

    The change takes effect immediately, After you change profiles, the dashboard and the functionality of views might change.
