Consider Disabling Normalization
About this task
All of the template search collections that are provided with Watson™ Explorer Engine (discussed in Selecting an Appropriate Base Search Collection) use the normalization converter. If automatic language detection is not required, you can improve performance by disabling language detection in that converter. This is a very minor optimization but can provide substantial benefits when working with millions of documents. This option can be disabled in the Watson Explorer Engine administration tool by doing the following:
Procedure
- Select the Configuration tab's Converting sub-tab for a collection
- Edit the Converter Component: Normalization converter
- Set the value of the Language detection option (in the Language detection section) to false
- Click OK or Apply to save your changes.
