Collaboration Across Multiple Installations
In some situations, a application will be made up of two or more Watson™ Explorer Engine installations that interact with each other. One way for them to interact is for the project, display, and sources to be defined in one installation (referred to in this section as the front end) and for the collections with data to exist on another installation (the backend). The sources on the front end installation use the host and port parameters to point to the backend installations. This section discusses some special configuration that is necessary for using annotations and social search functionality in this situation.
Note: The configuration steps in this section are not necessary when the multiple
installation setup is using Distributed Indexing.
Note: Other non-Watson Explorer Engine related factors such as network
connection/traffic and authentication may need to be considered when configuring multiple
installations.
