Defining Fields for the Input Query

About this task

The final step in being able to perform searches based on these (or any) fields is to define them in Watson™ Explorer Engine so that they are recognized as valid parts of an input query. Watson Explorer Engine provides a number of predefined fields, all of which you can see by clicking the List icon () to the right of the Syntax entry in the Watson Explorer Engine administration tool's left-hand navigation menu and selecting core. You can scroll through this list to see if the fields that you plan to use already exist. In this case, only the title field is pre-defined, so you must add the hero and year fields. Because you cannot edit the core syntax, you must add the hero and year fields to a custom Syntax.

To define a new field

Procedure

  1. Click the List icon () to the right of the Syntax entry in the Watson Explorer Engine administration tool's left-hand navigation menu
  2. Select custom.

This displays a screen like the one shown in Figure 1.
