Configuring Web Server Authentication
In order for users of a search application to be able to perform authenticated searches, the web server that is delivering search results must understand authentication, be able to identify a user, and be able to determine the access control groups to which that user belongs. This is done differently in different web servers, but must be enabled on specific portions of the Web server on which Watson™ Explorer Engine is running.
The next two sections explain how to configure the Microsoft Windows Internet Information Services (IIS) and Apache web servers to use the authentication and access control information provided by an Active Directory server.
