Hardware Recommendations

The hardware on which Watson™ Explorer Engine is deployed is the key to Watson Explorer Engine's performance, with the number of servers and the CPU, RAM, network speed, and disk speed of each being primary factors. The proper hardware should be planned prior to the development phase and available for testing prior to the actual deployment in order to be able to verify that the performance goals for your Watson Explorer Engine Platform application have been met.

The next few sections highlight suggested minimum configurations for the hardware on which Watson Explorer Engine Platform applications are developed and deployed, provide general suggestions for CPU, RAM, disk, and network selection, and introduce the '''micro-test''' application that is included with Watson Explorer Engine to help you explore how well-suited different systems are for use in deploying Watson Explorer Engine.
