How do I manage the users of my hub?

You must assign a role for each user when you add them to the role. You can assign users to the following roles; viewers, editors, managers, and administrators. It’s important as an administrator to understand the various responsibilities and permissions for each role before you assign them to users.

As an administrator, you can add users from Settings > User management. You can change the role of a user or remove them anytime after they are added to your hub.

Adding a user without an IBMid?

If you want to add users to your hub who don’t have an IBMid, you can add their email ID to your hub instead.

User roles

Administrator

The administrator role has the most responsibilities of the three roles. There always needs to be at least one user in the administrator role. If you logged in to Acoustic Content with the IBMid as the first user, you’re automatically assigned the role of an administrator. Or you might also be assigned to the administrator role by another administrator. Only the administrators have permissions to set up a hub and its privileges, manage hub usage, and manage user privileges in addition to working with content types, content items, and assets.

Managers

The manager role has user permissions to work with content types in addition to working with content items and assets.

Editors

Editor role permissions allow them to work only with content items and assets.

Viewers

The user with the viewer role typically works in other products that integrate with your hub. The viewer role permissions allow them to select content and assets from the content selector and use them in their products. Viewers can’t access the hub directly or edit content.

Developers also need to be assigned a role to work with Acoustic Content. A developer can be assigned to the role of Administrator, Manager, Editor, or Viewer. A developer can also access the API as an Anonymous user. The Anonymous user can’t access any authoring functions.
