Configuring data dependencies for WebSphere Application Server Patterns

After you create a pattern using the pattern editor, you can connect software components by configuring the required data dependencies.

Before you begin

You must have access to patterns, access to create patterns, or the Workload resources administration with full permissions to complete this task. To configure dependencies, you must create a pattern. You can create patterns from predefined virtual system templates or from a blank template. Procedure

  1. To add a link between two assets, hover over the blue circle of an asset until it turns orange. Help text describes the asset that is associated with the link.
  2. Select the circle and drag a connection to either the Node name or the OS node name of the second asset until the asset is highlighted. When you create a link between two assets, you can map a property of one asset to a property of the other asset.
  3. Map dependencies manually.
    Depending on your configuration, some dependencies are mapped automatically, while other dependencies must be mapped manually.
    1. Open Configure Data Dependencies.
    2. Select the attribute for Software component A.
    3. Select the corresponding value in Software component B.
    4. Click Add.
    The following table contains a list of software component dependencies.
    Note: To see the dependencies for a connection between a deployment manager and a job manager, you must select Register to a Job manager. Between software components, there are certain attributes that must be linked. Use the attributes in the following table to link those components:
