VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.9.0 Release Notes
IBM® VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.9.0 is the major release of the IBM VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems.
New functions for VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.9.0
VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems
Version 1.9.0 has the following new functions and updates:
- Workgroup support in HADRHA mode - You can now group VMs into workgroups for HADRHA configurations, enabling coordinated failover across multiple partitions. For more information, click ../base/ksysmgr.html#ksysmgr__example_mjx_2wp_tfc.
- Workgroup creation at backup site in shared‑mode environment for DR cluster type - Enable independent setup of workgroups directly on VMs at the DR site. You must create a host group before creating a workgroup on the backup site. This helps manage the VMs present on the backup site without moving the host group to the backup site. For more information, click Workgroup creation at backup site in shared‑mode environment.
- HADRHA shared mode with Workgroup - Support for workgroup creation in HADRHA shared mode is now available. Workgroups can be created on host groups at the home site to help organize VMs for streamlined disaster recovery operations. For more information, click HADRHA shared mode with Workgroup.
- HADRHA shared mode- Streamlined shared‑mode replication with automatic host‑pair detection and pre‑deployment checks. For more information, click Creating sites.
New functions for the VM Recovery Manager DR GUI
The VM Recovery Manager DR GUI has the following enhancements:- Add WorkGroup dashboard - Simplifies workgroup creation by combining name, replication policy, and VM selection into one step. For more information, see WorkGroup dashboard.
- Add Host Group dashboard - Consolidates host group setup name, pairing type, replication policy, and WorkGroup support into a single, guided interface. For more information, see Add Host Group.
- HADRHA Host Group Creation - Introduces a unified six‑step flow with consistent UI labels and validations for faster HADRHA deployments. For more information, see HADRHA Host Group Creation Steps.
- New system tunable attributes - Two new tunables give you fine‑grained control over KSYS behavior adjust timeouts and retry policies directly in the GUI. For more information, see Modifying system tunable attributes.
- Policy‑based replication - Enables policy‑driven replication on SVC storage by selecting Policybased as the replication type at the home site. For more information, see Policy‑based replication.
Requirements

Additional information
- Documentation
- To view the latest updates to the documentation, see the What's new in
VM Recovery Manager DR 1.9.0 topic.
To view the documentation in the PDF format, see the VM Recovery Manager DRVersion 1.9.0 PDF.
- Man pages
- The man pages for the VM Recovery Manager DR commands related to ksysmgr are provided in the ksys.main.msg.en_US.cmds fileset, the commands related to the ksysrppmgr are provided in the ksys.vmmon.rte file. To view the man pages from the command line, enter man command_name (where command_name is the name of the command). You can use the ksysmgr command to perform all VM Recovery Manager DR operations. For more information about the operations that you can perform by using the ksysmgr/ksysrppmgr command, see the ksysmgr command topic and the ksysrppmgr command topic.

Limitations
- The command ksysmgr q vm display_all shows the wrong host name after an unplanned workgroup move to the backup site, before cleanup.
- When the workgroup is created on backup site we will not honor flex capacity
host_lun_validationis supported only for SVC and EMC(SRDF) storage types.
