Credential exchange
The credential exchange involves managing personally identifiable information (PII) and unique identity traits in physical and digital environments. These identity traits are vital to daily interactions, whether in person or online.
Identity instruments
Identity instruments represent subsets of an individual’s PII in digital or physical formats:
- Traditional Identification Cards: Include public and encoded data. Encoded data can be stored by using machine-readable technologies such as magnetic stripes, bar codes, and so on).
- Digital Identity Instruments: Software-readable representations of PII.
The situational use of identity instruments are during payments, identification, participation in events, or access to controlled areas.
