Reference architecture

The Trust Over IP Foundation defines a reference architecture based on four layers of the technology and governance stacks.

Figure 1. Trust Over IP Stack Reference Architecture
Trust Over IP Stack
Following list explains the overall architecture of the Trust Over IP Stack showing the four layers and two halves:
Public Utility or Ledger Layer (Layer 1)
Supports the Indicio Networks Hyperledger Indy based ledger and did:web.
DIDComm Layer (Layer 2)
Establishes trusted and privacy-preserving peer-to-peer communication.
Data Exchange Layer (Layer 3)
Establishes the issuer-verifier-holder trust triangle.
Application Layer (Layer 4)
Integrates lower stack levels into real-world applications.

Interoperability across these layers is critical and represents a mature model of VC implementation.
