Agencies, agents, edge, and cloud layers

A virtual identity vault (also know as a Sovereign Domain) consists of edge and cloud layer instances that form an entity’s self-sovereign identity infrastructure. This system is similar to cloud-based file synchronization tools like Dropbox, where individuals and organizations select an agency to host cloud layer software. This software is synchronized with the edge layer identity software on their devices.

  • For Individuals, the vault manages keys and credentials that are associated with their identity across all personal edge devices.
  • For Organizations, the vault manages the keys and credentials for devices that are used by employees that are authorized to perform credential acquisition or verification tasks.
