Migrating the SNMP solution

You can migrate the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) solution that is configured with an instance of Versions 6.4, 8.0, 8.0.1, 10.0, 10.0.1, 10.0.2, 10.0.3, and 10.0.4 to an instance of the current Version 11.0.1.

Before you begin

You must complete the following tasks before you migrate the SNMP solution from an instance of a previous supported version to a 11.0.1 instance:
  • Complete IBM® Verify Directory, Version 11.0.1 installation.
  • Complete IBM Verify Directory Integrator, Version 10.0 or later installation, if it not installed on the computer.
  • Log in as a root user on AIX®, or Linux™ operating system, and as a member of the Administrator group on the Windows™ operating system.

Procedure

  1. Back up the snmp directory that is in the IBM Verify Directory installation location that is associated with your existing instance of previous version.
  2. Upgrade your previous version of instance to 11.0.1 instance. See Upgrade an instance of a previous version.
  3. Replace the /idstools/snmp/idssnmp.conf file that in the IBM Verify Directory, Version 11.0.1 installation path with the /idstools/snmp/idssnmp.conf file that in the installation path of previous version of IBM Verify Directory.
  4. Replace the /idstools/snmp/idssnmp.properties file that in the IBM Verify Directory, Version 11.0.1 installation path with the /idstools/snmp/idssnmp.properties file that in the installation path of previous version of IBM Verify Directory.
  5. Replace the /idstools/snmp/IBM-DIRECTORYSERVER-MIB file that in the IBM Verify Directory, Version 11.0.1 installation path with the /idstools/snmp/IBM-DIRECTORYSERVER-MIB file that in the installation path of previous version of IBM Verify Directory.
  6. Replace the /idstools/snmp/INET-ADDRESS-MIB file that in the IBM Verify Directory, Version 11.0.1 installation path with the /idstools/snmp/INET-ADDRESS-MIB file that in the installation path of previous version of IBM Verify Directory.
  7. If the IBM Verify Directory Integrator, Version 10.0 or later installation path in different from the default path, set the IDS_LDAP_TDI_HOME variable with the installation location.
  8. Run the SNMP solution.
