Configuration
IBM® Storage FlashSystem storage snapshot integration with Veeam Backup and Replication for partitioned environments.
- When you use storage snapshot integration with the IBM Storage Virtualize Plugin for Veeam Backup and
Replication for local or
policy-based high availability enabled partitions, configure the following settings on the IBM Storage FlashSystem:
- For policy-based high availability enabled partitions, ensure that high availability snapshots are enabled in the partition replication policy.
- Create a Fibre Channel or iSCSI backup proxy host-object in each storage partition. This object is required for backup operations.
-
Host objects for the Veeam initiator IQN and the operating system (OS) initiator IQN must be created manually in the same scope as the volumes being backed up. For volumes in storage partitions, the host objects must be created within the corresponding partition.
Select a dedicated backup proxy during storage registration. For details about identifying the Veeam initiator IQN, see the Veeam user guide.
- Create a Fibre Channel or iSCSI ESXi host object in each storage partition. This object is required for restoring data from snapshots.
- Each storage partition must have a dedicated backup proxy configured. Both the Veeam iSCSI initiator and the operating system iSCSI initiator host objects must be manually created within the partition. For details, see the Veeam user guide.
- In the Veeam Backup and Replication server, update the storage infrastructure configuration:
- To remove non-AMS storage systems on the AMS switch of storage partition, go to Storage Infrastructure, right-click Storage and select Remove storage.
- To add AMS storage systems to the storage infrastructure, go to Storage Infrastructure, right-click Storage and select Add storage.
