Compatibility and requirements

The following compatibility details and system requirements apply to IBM® Storage Virtualize Plugin for Veeam Backup and Replication:

  1. Within a Veeam Backup and Replication configuration, do not mix storage partition volumes with stand-alone volumes. Configure the environment to use either storage partition volumes or stand-alone volumes exclusively.
  2. IBM Storage Virtualize Plugin for Veeam Backup and Replication creates auxiliary thin clones as thin-provisioned volumes. If a performance-optimized provisioning policy is configured, for the storage pool, the thin clone is created as a fully provisioned volume.
  3. IBM Storage Virtualize Plugin for Veeam Backup and Replication uses volume group-level snapshots. To optimize snapshot usage, place backup volumes in dedicated volume groups. For improved isolation and efficiency, configure one volume per volume group where possible.
  4. Each storage partition must have a dedicated backup proxy configured.
