Backing up IBM UrbanCode Release

To back up IBM® UrbanCode™ Release, make a backup copy of the database and the installation directory.

Back up the installation directory and the database at the same time. Using backup copies made at different times might cause problems when you restore the backups. If you are using the Derby database that is automatically installed with the server, the database is copied along with the server directory.
  1. Stop the server.
  2. Copy the installation directory to a secure location.
The default installation directory on Windows™ is \Program Files\IBM\UCRelease. The default directory is on Linux™ is /opt/IBM/UCRelease.
  3. Make a backup of the database and store it in a secure location.
For instructions on backing up the database, see the documentation for your database.
  4. Optional: Copy the product data directory.
Prior to version 6.0.1, some product data was located in a folder in your home directory. If the .urbancode folder (version 4.x) or .ibm/ucrlease folder (version 5.x) exists, copy the folder.
  5. Restart the server.
To restore the server from a backup, see Recovering IBM UrbanCode Release from a backup.
