Creating a virtual table for IMS
Create a virtual table for the IMS metadata that you want to access.
Procedure
To create a virtual table, complete the following steps:

On the navigation menu, click Manage accel loader > Create virtual table.
The Create virtual table page opens.

Provide the required details in the following sections to create metadata for
an IMS virtual table:

In the IMS definitions section, provide the
following information:
- Server
- Select a server from the drop-down in which you want to create an IMS virtual table.
- DBD
- Select an IMS Database Definition (DBD) from the drop-down.
The content of the DBD is displayed below the field.Note: If your DBD is not available in the drop-down, use the Extract DBD button. For more information on how to extract the DBD, refer to Extracting DBD or PSB metadata.
- PSB
- Select an IMS Program Specification Block (PSB) from the
drop-down. The content of the PSB is displayed below the
field.Note: If your PSB is not available in the drop-down, use the Extract PSB button. For more information on how to extract the PSB, refer to Extracting DBD or PSB metadata.
- Click Next.
- In the Virtual table configuration section, provide the required details and click Next. For information on the fields, refer to Configuring a virtual table.
- In the Copybook layout section, provide the required details and click Next. For information on the fields, refer to Creating a copybook layout.

In the IMS configuration section, provide the
following information:
Notes:
- The following fields are auto-populated and cannot be updated: Default IMS ID, IMS-Direct protocol, DBD name, PSB name, and IMS ID override (used with IMS-Direct and IMS/ODBA).
- If you want to update the value in IMS ID override (used with IMS-Direct and IMS/ODBA) field, refer to Extracting DBD or PSB metadata.
- Segment name
- Provide a name for the segment that you selected in the Copybook layout section.
- Post-read exit name

Provide the name of the post-read exit to use when manipulating the data after reading it from the queue. This is a custom exit routine installed on the server and used to perform additional processing after a record is read from the data source.
- Use IMS-Direct

Select the Use IMS-Direct (read-only, high performance bulk data access) radio button to allow the DBD to enable IMS Direct for a virtual table.
- Use IMS/DBCTL

Select the Use IMS/DBCTL (read/write, transactional integrity) radio button to use IMS API calls.
Note: To edit the value in the IMS ID override (used with IMS-Direct and IMS/ODBA) field, refer to Extracting DBD or PSB metadata.

In the IMS definitions section, provide the
following information:
- Click Create virtual table.
