Creating a repository database

The SQL tuning capabilities of Db2® Administration Foundation require a repository database, which is a Db2 for z/OS® database that stores tuning metadata, such as historical analyses and tuning results.

Procedure

To create a repository database, complete the following steps:
  1. Click Db2 SQL Tuning > Repository database to open the Repository database connection dashboard.
    • If you have already created a Db2 subsystem connection, the connection attributes for that connection and its status are displayed. Click Create repository database and skip to step 5.
    • If you have not set up a Db2 subsystem connection, click Create connection. The Select Db2 subsystem tab of the Create repository database connection window is displayed. Proceed with step 2.
Important: A subsystem is listed in the Registered subsystems list only if it has been successfully registered.
  2. Select the Db2 subsystem in which you want to create the repository database. Click Next to display the Specify credentials tab.
  3. Specify the user credentials for the repository database. You can specify either your Unified Management Server user ID and password or a temporary user ID and password, which will expire after a connection to the selected Db2 subsystem is established. Click Next to display the Parameters tab.
  4. Specify the host, location, and port for the Db2 subsystem connection. You can also specify additional JDBC properties if required. Click Next to display the Create repository database tab.
  5. Specify a storage group for the repository database data sets and buffer pools for the repository database indexes and table spaces. You can optionally specify an SQL ID, which will be used as a prefix for unqualified data sets.
If you want to create the repository database immediately when you click Submit, change the Run DDL toggle to Yes.
  6. Click Submit.
