How do I register endpoints?
To exchange event or audience data between products or solutions through Acoustic Exchange, you must register their endpoints with Acoustic Exchange for use in your Acoustic Exchange account. You must have a valid license and access credentials for products and solutions that you register.
About this task
Register endpoints with the endpoint registration wizard on the Endpoints tab or through the navigation menu.
The endpoint registration wizard lists endpoint providers that have collaborated with Acoustic Exchange to complete some endpoint configuration work in advance. For endpoints that are listed in the endpoint wizard, use the registration wizard to provide information about your organization and Acoustic Exchange account that is required to proceed with the registration process.
Endpoints that did not yet complete pre-registration preparations are not listed as options in the endpoint registration wizard. To register an endpoint that does not appear in the endpoint list, register the endpoint as a Custom endpoint.
Endpoint providers can deploy their business solutions on one or more servers or data centers. If the provider uses multiple data centers, you must specify a deployment when you register the solution as an Acoustic Exchange endpoint for your account. Consult with the endpoint provider to determine the deployment information that you must specify and to get any required address or credential information.
Procedure
- On the Endpoints tab, click Register new endpoint to display the endpoint registration wizard. The Endpoint registration wizard lists Acoustic Exchange endpoints for products and solutions that have completed a thorough evaluation process and provide a way for you to submit your access credentials. You can filter the list by the endpoint provider. If the endpoint that you want to register does not appear on the list, you must register it as a custom endpoint.
- Select the endpoint that you want to register and click Next.
- Provide the information that the endpoint provider requires as part of the registration request. When you have finished entering the information, click Next.
- The wizard presents either of the following options:
- One or more fields that you can use to enter account access information directly through Acoustic Exchange. The required information is different for each endpoint.
- Typically, the endpoint requires that you provide the login credentials and other information that you use to access the product or solution that provides the endpoint. If the endpoint is deployed on multiple data centers, you must select a deployment. Consult with the endpoint provider to determine the correct deployment for you.
- Instructions for contacting or connecting to the endpoint provider to register the endpoint. The instructions might also describe the information that the endpoint provider requires to process the registration request. Make note of the instructions before you click Next.
- If your business needs require it, enter an Endpoint alias for your endpoint. An endpoint alias is a designation that differentiates one endpoint from another. Defining an endpoint alias is useful in cases where you have multiple endpoints with the same configuration but have different purposes. If you do not define an endpoint alias, one is generated for you.
- Enter a description for the endpoint. By entering a description for the endpoint, you can provide better insight into the purpose or goal of the endpoint. Again, this is useful when you have multiple endpoints of similar configuration, but different purposes. If you do not define an endpoint description, then Acoustic Exchange uses the default endpoint description.
Results
If you entered registration information into the registration wizard, Acoustic Exchange transmits the information to the endpoint provider so that the provider can complete the registration. The endpoint displays on the Endpoints tab as Pending. When Acoustic Exchange and the endpoint provider completes the registration, the endpoint status changes to Active.
If you received registration instructions from the registration wizard, you must contact the endpoint provider to complete the registration. The endpoint status remains Pending until you contact the endpoint provider and the provider completes the registration.
If you received registration instructions from the registration wizard, contact the endpoint provider to provide the additional information that is required to complete the registration.
