Basic mapping support (BMS) services

Basic mapping support (BMS) is an interface between CICS® and CICS application programs that move 3270 data streams to and from a terminal. BMS formats input and output display data in response to BMS commands and programs by using device information that is defined in the Terminal Definitions (WD) and the formatting information from the maps that were prepared for the application program.

On TXSeries® for Multiplatforms, you can code map definition macros and use the cicsmap command to generate the maps. This is described in Coding BMS map sets using BMS macros. For information about the rules governing coding of BMS definition macros, see Rules for coding the BMS definition macros.
