Getting started
After your Turbonomic Parking Edition instance has been provisioned, perform the following tasks:
-
Log in to the instance using the login credentials that you received from your Turbonomic representative.
-
Configure targets. Turbonomic discover parkable workloads through these targets.
Turbonomic supports AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud as targets. The target configuration process includes two general tasks.
-
Set up credentials and permissions in your cloud provider.
Credentials include AWS IAM identities, Azure service principals, and Google Cloud service accounts. Permissions vary by cloud provider but are generally limited to Turbonomic requirements for discovering and parking workloads.
-
Add targets in the Turbonomic user interface.
Navigate to Settings > Target configuration. A wizard walks you through the required settings to successfully add a target. Settings include the credentials that you set up in your cloud provider.
-
-
After targets are added successfully, click Parking on the main menu to open the Parking page.
-
Review the parkable workloads discovered from your environment.
-
Park your first workload to run a quick test. Stop a non-production workload, verify that it was stopped, and then start it after a few minutes.
-
-
Identify workloads that are good candidates for automated parking. Focus on non-production environments and workloads with predictable idle periods.
-
Create a parking schedule and then attach the schedule to the workloads.
Be sure the schedule aligns with the operational requirements of the workloads. Adjust it as operational requirements change.
-
Open the Overview dashboard to monitor parking operations and results.
-
Track realized savings for stopped workloads.
-
Review parking actions that failed and take corrective measures.
-
Identify additional parking opportunities.
-
-
Explore advanced options to increase parking coverage and operational efficiency.
-
Create parking policies to park workloads at scale.
-
Create workload sets to park related workloads efficiently.
-
Create user accounts to delegate parking tasks to other members of your team.
