Adding a Google Cloud target

Add an Google Cloud target in the Turbonomic user interface to monitor and optimize workloads in your Google Cloud environment. This target specifies the service account that Turbonomic will use to connect to Google Cloud.

Prerequisites

Before performing this task, be sure you have the key file for the service account that Turbonomic will use to connect to Google Cloud. If you do not have this key, follow the steps outlined in this topic.

Adding the target

  1. Go to Settings > Target configuration.

  2. On the Target configuration page, click Add Target.

  3. On the Select target page, click Google Cloud.

  4. In the side panel, review the connection requirements and then click Connect Target.

  5. On the Connection overview page, configure the following settings:

    • Display name

Specify a name that uniquely identifies this connection.

This name is for display purposes only and does not need to match any name in Google Cloud.

  6. On the Service account details page, configure the following setting.

    • Upload service account key JSON file

Drag and drop the JSON for the key file that you generated in a previous task.

  7. On the Proxy configuration page, configure the following settings if you connect through a proxy:

    • Proxy hostname or IP address

Specify the address of the proxy used for this target.

    • Proxy port

Specify the port to use with the proxy used for this target. By default, the port is 8080.

    • Proxy username

Specify the username to use with the proxy.

    • Proxy password

Specify the password to use with the proxy.

    • Connect by using HTTPS

Select this option if Turbonomic connects to the proxy through HTTPS.

After adding a Google Cloud target

Turbonomic starts to discover the projects that define compute, storage, and networking resources for your workloads. It then creates a derived target for each discovered project. Derived targets are not directly modifiable within Turbonomic but can be validated like any other target.

Turbonomic discovers a broader resource hierarchy if you added a target with permissions to access folders or your entire organization.
