Setting default TEP options

You use the Default TEP parameters panel to control the generation of SMF status records that are passed to the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP). In addition, you specify the filtering parameters that will control the tapes that are displayed in TEP console.

To specify the TEP parameters:

Procedure

  1. From the Tape Optimizer Primary Menu panel, choose option 1. Copy Request Defaults.
    The Copy Request Defaults panel opens.
  2. From the Copy Request Defaults panel, choose option 6. TEP Parameters.
    The Default TEP parameters pop-up window opens, as shown in the following figure:

  3. Specify the SMF record number that will be used for each of the generated records in the User Number for SMF Status Records field. The number is specified in decimal and must not be the same as any other vendor SMF record number being used in your system. Contact your systems administrator or programmer for an available SMF record that you can use.
  4. In the Generate Volume Stats Records field, enter a forward slash (/), to indicate that you want a Volume Summary record to be output each time a volume is copied by Tape Optimizer.
  5. In the Generate Dataset Stats Records field, enter a forward slash (/), to indicate that you want a Dataset Summary record to be output each time a volume is copied by Tape Optimizer.
  6. In the Generate Job Stats Records field, enter a forward slash (/), to indicate that you want a Job Summary record to be output each time a volume is copied by Tape Optimizer.
  7. In the Tapes that Expire Before field, enter a date that will be used to limit the tapes that the TEP Monitoring Agent will display. Tapes with an expiration or retention date that occurs before the given date will be included in the display.
  8. In the Tapes that Were Created Since field, enter a date that will be used to limit the tapes that the TEP Monitoring Agent will display. Tapes with an assigned date that occurs after the given date will be included in the display.
  9. When you are finished, press F3 to save your settings and exit.
