Stopping a copy request

You can use the standard Stop (P) operator command to stop a copy request in a controlled manner that enables current copy processing to complete.

About this task

The Stop command performs a controlled quiesce of the copy request. Tape Optimizer completes copying the tape chain that is currently being processed before the copy request stops. If multiple copy tasks are running concurrently, each task completes copying its current tape chain before stopping.

To stop a copy request in this manner, issue the Stop operator command from a z/OS operator console, as follows: 

P job_name

Or issue the command from SDSF, as follows:

/P job_name

When you restart the copy request, Tape Optimizer will resume the copy operation from the point at which it stopped.
