Canceling a copy request
If an attempt to stop a copy request in controlled manner with the Stop (P) operator command was unsuccessful, you can cancel the copy request. When you cancel a copy request, it stops immediately. It does not wait for current copy tasks to complete.
About this task
To cancel a copy request, issue the Cancel operator command from a z/OS operator console, as follows:
C job_nameOr issue the command from SDSF, as follows:
/C job_nameWhen you restart the copy request, any tape chains that were in the process of being copied when the Cancel command was issued will be recopied. However, if Tape Optimizer finished copying all of the data for a tape chain but did not complete a post-copy processing step (for example, applying the DFSMSrmmâ„¢ information to the output tapes), Tape Optimizer will resume from the last post-copy step when you restart the copy request.
