About this guide

IBM® on z/OS® Tape Optimizer is a tape copy utility for z/OS systems with the Data Facility System Managed Storage removable media manager (DFSMSrmm). This guide describes how to plan for, customize, and use Tape Optimizer. The Tape Optimizer Monitoring Agent offers functions that can be used to manage numerous tape copy jobs and monitor the results of those jobs.

Tape Optimizer can copy tape volumes and individual data sets to other tapes or tape-compatible media such as VTSs. The product supports numerous copy options and tape filtering criteria.
