IP Settings

About this task

Note: IBM service typically performs this operation and it is recommended that you do not make any changes.

Procedure

  1. You can change the entries by typing new values in the indicated fields, see figure Figure 1. If you must change the hostname or the internal IP address of the system console, you must also change information on each tape system that is attached to the system console.
Note: See Feature Codes to locate external ports for Grid and External Network Interfaces.
    • All network interface entries display their status as either Connected or Disconnected. These designations signify whether the TSSC sees a working connection at each interface, and they can be used to help troubleshoot connectivity problems.
  2. To set up Autonomic Ownership Takeover Manager (AOTM) for the TS7700, connect your AOTM network to the AOTM Network Interface that is located in the back of your service console.
  3. Select Ethernet and configure with the appropriate IP address as needed.
Note: The external interface is used for call home, remote access, web UI access, SNMP, DNS and other functionality.
To set up the broadband interface, connect the internet connection to the External Ethernet Interface that is located in the back of your system console. Enter the information for this interface into the External Network Interface input area that is depicted in Figure 1.
    Notes:
    • When you set up the External Network Interface, you have to enter a default gateway setting that was provided by the administrator.
    • After you enter an address, you can test the interface by pinging another location on the customer network. Click Network Information from the screen in Figure 1 for this option.
    • The External and AOTM networks can both be assigned IPv6 addresses. You can assign addresses manually through DHCP (if a DHCPv6 server is running on the network) or by using IPv6 Stateless Auto-configuration.
    • If IPv6 is enabled for External, the IPv6 DNS and IPv6 Default Gateway entries appear in System Properties.
    • Selecting IPv4 hides these entries if they are not being used. Selecting IPv6 hides the IPv4 entries.
    • The Internal, External, and Grid network speeds can be set independent of each other. The possible speed settings are:
      • 100 Mb/s
      • 1000 Mb/s
      • Auto (Turns on auto negotiation)
Setting a specific speed requires the connection target to support the same speed. Otherwise, the system automatically reverts to auto negotiation.
  4. Click Update & Save.
