TSSC WebUI Certificate

The data exchanged between the TSSC and the browser for accessing the WebUI interface is encrypted. As the default state, the TSSC configures a system-defined encryption certificate. The TSSC WebUI accepts a user-defined encryption certificate, too. It can be installed by selecting Console Settings > Certificates.

Note: Internet Explorer (Microsoft) is not supported.
The information of the system-defined certificate:
- issuer= /C=US/ST=NorthCastle/L=nNY/O=IBM/OU=TS3300Development/CN=localhost/emailAddress=ts3300dev@ibm.co
User-defined certificate requirements:
  • The private key and the certificate files are provided as separate files. (PKCS#12 format isn't supported.)
Note: Refer to https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/ts4500-tape-library?topic=communications-getting-started-ssl-certificates for a description of the process for obtaining SSL certificates and a private key
  • RSA keys for openssl(TSSC is using Apache httpd) is recommended.
  • AES and DES are supported.
  • Certificates must be in PEM format.
  • If the private key includes a pass phrase, the pass phrase is specified in the pass phrase field before uploading the files.
The detail of the SSL Cipher Suite in the TSSC is as below.

Note: If a CA-signed certificate on a TSSC is configured with multiple IPs, it is strongly recommend that you include each IP used for web GUI access in the certificate. If an IP address or DNS name is not specified in the certificate, the message Your connection is not secure is displayed after the installation.
To install a user-defined certificate, do the following:
  1. Specify a Private Key File to upload.
  2. Specify a SSL Certificate File and SSL Certificate Chain File (optional) to upload.
  3. Specify a Pass Phrase if the private key includes the pass phrase.
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Check the uploaded private key and certificate are correct before installation. If it's not correct, click Cancel.
  6. Click Install. Then, click OK button. (Restarting httpd service is required and may take several minutes to complete.)
Note: The message Secure connection failed is displayed because the connection was changed. Reloading from a top page is required. The padlock icon should be displayed in a web browser.
  7. To confirm the certificate document is installed, return to the Console Settings > Certificates page and check the fields of the installed certificate table.
Note: Click Uninstall to return to the default state. (use system-defined certificate)
