Note: IBM service typically performs this operation and it is recommended that you do not make any
changes.
Procedure
This functionality can be used to configure optional backup configuration settings when changes
to TSSC/IMC configuration have been applied.
Notes: You can store multiple configurations by using unique backup
names. Follow the convention for backup configuration names of <host name>-<machine
type>-<serial number>.tgz when you create a unique name
From System Console GUI, select Backup/Restore.
You see

Click Backup to USB device to backup the console
configuration to a USB device, such a USB memory
stick.

Click Backup to CD to
backup the console configuration to a CD.

Click Backup
to Remote Host to backup the console configuration to an attached host. You will need to
be attached to a 3958, 3592, or TS7700. You are shown a box into which you enter the IP address of
the system you want to back up to. You can do this with TS7700s.
Notes:
Record the IP address of the remote host that you backed up to. You might need this when you
perform a Restore in Step 3.

A dialog box appears, requesting that you perform one of the following steps.
Insert a CD.

Plug in a USB storage device.
Note: To connect a USB device to a TSSC model, you must disconnect
the DVD optical drive plugged into Port 4 (If one is connected). Then, plug the USB device into Port
4. Refer to Figure 6 or Figure 7 port location.
Click OK. A message appears which informs you of the success of
the procedure.
Click OK. If a USB storage device was connected to Port 4, then remove the USB storage
device and reconnect the DVD optical drive into Port 4 (if one is connected).
Click Close this window to exit the Backup screen.
