Upgrading

You can upgrade from a previous version of the software.

About this task

Upgrading the software is a three-step process:

Procedure

  1. Download the updates.
  2. To install the updates, run setupfcm.exe.
  3. Start the Management Console by clicking Start > All Programs > Tivoli FlashCopy Manager > FlashCopy Manager Management Console. When you start the Management Console after you install the updates, the configuration wizard automatically starts. The configuration wizard guides you through the process of provisioning and installing the remaining files.

    Depending on the software licenses found on the system, the configuration process varies. The wizard provides instructions to guide you through the process.

    If the configuration wizard does not start automatically, click IBM Tivoli Storage Manager in the tree view, and click Configuration. Then, double-click Wizards.

What to do next

After you upgrade Tivoli® Storage FlashCopy® Manager, local backups that are created with an earlier version of the software must be restored, mounted, and unmounted. To accomplish this action, use the upgraded version of the software. If an older version of the software is used, errors occur.
