Modifying User Accounts

You can modify the existing user accounts.

About this task

The "Enter Password" pane is optional. If an Administrator account changes some other attribute such as "Full name" or the user's authority level, but does not need to change that user's password, then this pane can be left unchanged.

  1. Typically, the reason an Administrator user would use this page is to:
  • Change some values in the General pane like Full name, Description etc.
  • Reset the password of another user that has forgotten their password.

NOTE: A logged in user should use the "Password" page to change their own password.

To modify a user account, follow the steps below.

Modifying a user account

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, click Administration > User Accounts.
The User Accounts page is displayed.
  2. In the General pane, you can change the basic information for this user account.
  3. In the Enter Password pane, you can change the user's password. You can also disable this user account.
The password must adhere to the following rules:
    • Must be at least 8 characters long
    • Must contain at least one alphabetic and one non-alphabetic character
    • Must not contain the username
    • Must be changed at least once every 30 days (by default) or as specified in the Modifying the password age, but must not be changed more than once each day.
Note: The password must be changed at the first login to this user account.
  4. If you want to disable this user account, select Account is disabled.
Disabling the account prevents the account from being used without deleting the account. For information about deleting a user account, see the Deleting User Accounts page.
Note: You can neither disable the admin account nor downgrade it to Editor authority.

Downgrading a user account's authority is only possible using another account that has Administrator authority.
