Use this page to view physical volume ranges or unassigned
physical volumes in a library attached to an IBM® TS7700.
If the cluster does not possess a physical
library, the Physical Volume Ranges page is not visible on
the IBM TS7700 management
interface.
Click the Inventory Upload button to display a range or
ranges of physical volumes recently added to an attached physical
library.
- Physical Volume Ranges
- The Physical Volume Ranges table displays the list of defined
VOLSER ranges for a given cluster.
Note: If a physical volume's VOLSER
occurs within a defined range, upon being inserted that volume can
be inventoried according to its VOLSER definition. If the physical
volume's VOLSER occurs outside a defined range, user intervention
will be required to assign the inserted physical volume to TS7700 resources.
Important: If a physical volume range
contains virtual volumes with active data those virtual volumes must
be moved or deleted before the physical volume range can be moved
or deleted.
- Information displayed in the Physical Volume Ranges table
includes:
- Start VOLSER
- The first VOLSER in a defined range.
- End VOLSER
- The last VOLSER in a defined range.
- Media Type
- The media type for all volumes in a given VOLSER range. Possible values are:
- JA-ETC
- Enterprise Tape Cartridge
- JB-ETCL
- Enterprise Extended-Length Tape Cartridge
- JC-ATCD
- Advanced Type C Data
- JD-ATDD
- Advanced Type D Data
- JE (ATED)
- Advanced Data E Cartridge
- JJ-EETC
- Enterprise Economy Tape Cartridge
- JK-ATKE
- Advanced Type K Economy
- JL-ATLE
- Advanced Type L Economy
- JM (ATME)
- Advanced Type E Economy Cartridge
Note: JA and JJ media are only supported for read-only operations with a
3592 E07 Tape Drive.
- Home Pool
- The home pool to which the VOLSER range is assigned.
Use the drop-down menu on the
Physical Volume Ranges table
to add a new VOLSER range or modify or delete a pre-defined range.
- Unassigned Volumes
- The Unassigned Volumes table displays for a given cluster
the list of unassigned physical volumes that are pending ejection.
A VOLSER is removed from this table when a new range that contains
the VOLSER is added.
- Status information displayed in the Unassigned Volumes table
includes:
- VOLSER
- The VOLSER associated with a given physical volume.
- Media Type
- The media type for all volumes in a given VOLSER range. Possible values are:
- JA-ETC
- Enterprise Tape Cartridge
- JB-ETCL
- Enterprise Extended-Length Tape Cartridge
- JC-ATCD
- Advanced Type C Data
- JD-ATDD
- Advanced Type D Data
- JE (ATED)
- Advanced Data E Cartridge
- JJ-EETC
- Enterprise Economy Tape Cartridge
- JK-ATKE
- Advanced Type K Economy
- JL-ATLE
- Advanced Type L Economy
- JM (ATME)
- Advanced Type E Economy Cartridge
Note: JA and JJ media are only supported for read-only operations with a
3592 E07 Tape Drive.
- Pending Eject
- Whether the physical volume associated with the given VOLSER is
awaiting ejection.
Use the
Unassigned Volumes table to eject one
or more physical volumes from a library attached to a
TS7700.
