Explanation
The tape device has failed to load or unload a tape cartridge. The automatic recovery process was not able to unload the cartridge from the device and store it. The device or cartridge may be defective.
Operator response
- Place the library system in pause mode.
- Open the enclosure.
- If the cartridge is accessible, remove it.
- If the cartridge is not accessible, press the Load/Unload button on the tape drive and then remove the cartridge.
- If the cartridge is damaged, repair it (for example, reattach the leader block or leader pin). If the cartridge cannot be repaired, it should be reinserted, and an eject should be issued from the host.
- Cycle the tape drive power to clear any failure status in the system.
- Place the cartridge in the convenience I/O station.
- Close the enclosure.
- Place the library system in auto mode.
- Contact your IBM service representative if the error persists.
