TS7780 Storage Capacity

Base Frame Cache sizes HDD solution using 3948-XSD expansions (TS7780 Cache Drawer)

The base frame of the TS7780 can support up to 120 HDD drives of 20 TB of capacity inside the 3948-XSD drawers. The total written capacity for each HDD drive is 20 TB that means that the system will scale up to 2,400 TB of raw storage in the base frame. Having a total allocated capacity of 1,572.30 TB (1.57 PB). The raw size storage does not consider losses from rebuild, parity, rebuild areas goals, etc.

The following table provides the approximate for the cache sizes that a base frame could achieve with 20 TB HDD drives, the information below is provided for 11 total enclosure numbers:

Note: the difference between a base frame and the expansion frame string is 350 GiB that are distributed in the first base string for db2backup, db2work and db2logs, so the difference is too small. So, if anyone needs the cache sizes for expansion frames, use the base frame as reference as well.

Base Frame Cache sizes SSD solution using 3948-XFD expansions (TS7780 Cache Drawer)

The base frame of the TS7780 can support up to 240 SSD drives of 15 TB of capacity inside the 3948-XFD drawers. The total written capacity for each SSD drive is 15 TB that means that the system will scale up to 3,600 TB of raw storage in the base frame. Having a total allocated capacity of 2,609.77 (2.60 PB). The raw size storage does not consider losses from rebuild, parity, rebuild areas goals, etc.

The following table provides the approximate for the cache sizes that a base frame could achieve with 15 TB SSD drives, the information below is provided for 11 total enclosure numbers:
