DS8000 advanced object store
This feature will be used to implement DS8000 in the TS7700 object store functionality in one or more TS7700 cluster(s).
The DS8000 Advanced Object Store feature is supported only on TS7770 (VED) models. It is supported on TS7700D and TS7700T models. Support for TS7700C models requires an iRPQ.
If Secure Data Transfer is used between DS8000 and TS7700, a DS8900 model with microcode level 9.2.x or later is required. Additionally, TS7700 requires that FC 5281 Secure Data Transfer is installed. Secure Data transfer FC can be added anytime after the set up, however, it must be installed before SSL connection is turned on at DS8000. Secure Data Transfer does not need to be enabled on TS7700 for transactions between a DS8000 and a TS7700 to work. Only the FC 5281 needs to be activated. For information on activating FC 5281, refer to the Installation Instructions for FC 5281 (Enable Secure Data Transfer Capability).
The DS8000 Advanced Object Store feature is supported in a standalone TS7700 cluster up to an 8-way TS7700 Grid. The DS8000 Advanced Object Store feature must be enabled on each TS7700 that is a target for DS8000 TCT object data.
DS8000 can target one or two TS7700s in the same grid per TCT connection for load balancing. A DS8000 can target the same or different TS7700 grids by using multiple TCT connections up to a maximum of eight connections through the multi cloud offering for modified object policy management purposes.
DS8000 Advanced Object Store feature provides a way to move the existing FC 5282 clusters to FC 5283. With FC 5282, TS7700 has no knowledge of the individual containers and objects stored in its cache. With FC 5283, additional object database tables are introduced that keep track all the objects in the grid. Thus, with this feature, it is possible to find the objects in a TS7700 cluster disk cache and use the information to populate the new object tables with the meta data to start tracking it. In addition, encoded naming conventions of containers and objects are applied to the existing files.
