Use this page to restore the settings from an IBM® TS7700 Cluster to a recovered or new cluster.
Note: Backup and restore functions are not supported
between clusters operating different code levels.

To restore cluster settings:
- Use the banner breadcrumbs to navigate to the cluster where the restore operation is applied.
- On the Restore Settings page, click the Browse button to open the File Upload window.
- Navigate to the backup file used to restore the cluster settings.
This file has an
.xmi
extension. - Add the file name to the File name field.
- Click Open or press Enter from your keyboard.
- Click Show File to review the cluster settings that are contained in the
backup file. The backup file can contain any of the following settings, but only those settings that
are defined by the backup file are shown.
- Constructs
- When these settings are restored, new settings are added and existing settings are modified, but no settings are deleted.
- Tape Partitions
- Select this check box to restore defined tape partitions.Note: If a partition exists with the same name or if the maximum number of partitions is reached, you cannot restore the partitions.
- Inhibit Reclaim Schedule
- Select this check box to restore Inhibit Reclaim Schedules that are used to postpone tape reclamation.
- Library Port Access Groups
- Select this check box to restore defined library port access groups.Note: This setting is available only when all clusters in the grid operate at microcode level 8.20.0.xx or later.
- Categories
- Select this check box to restore Fast Ready Categories that are used to group virtual volumes.
- Physical Volume Pools
- Select this check box to restore physical volume pool definitions.Note: If the backup file was created by a cluster that did not possess a physical library, physical volume pool settings are reset to default.
- Physical Volume Ranges
- Select this check box to restore defined physical volume ranges.Note: If the backup file was created by a cluster that did not possess a physical library, physical volume range settings are reset to default.
- Security Settings
- When these settings are restored, new settings are added and existing settings are modified, but no settings are deleted.
- Roles & Permissions
- When these settings are restored, new settings are added and existing settings are modified, but no settings are deleted.
- Encryption Key Server Addresses
- Select this check box to restore defined encryption key server addresses. If a key server address is empty at the time the backup is performed, when restored the port settings are the same as the default value. Encryption key server address settings that can be restored include: TS7770 Data at Rest Encryption
- Cluster Network Settings
- Select this check box to restore the defined cluster network settings.Important: Changes to network settings affect access to the TS7700 Management Interface. When these settings are restored, the network is reset. No TS7700 Grid communication or jobs are affected, but any current users are required to log back on to the TS7700 Management Interface by using the new IP address.
- Feature Licenses
- When these settings are restored, new settings are added and existing settings are modified, but no settings are deleted.
- Copy Policy Override
- Select this check box to restore the settings to override local copy and I/O policies.
- SNMP
- Select this check box to restore the settings for simple network management protocols (SNMP).
- Write Protect Mode Categories
- Select this check box to restore the settings for write protect mode categories.
- Check the box next to each setting to be restored.
- Click the Restore button. Note: The restore operation overwrites existing settings on the cluster.
- A warning page opens and asks to confirm your decision to restore settings. Click YesOK to restore settings or NoCancel to cancel the restore operation.
- The Confirm Restore Settings page opens. Attention: If you navigate away from this page while the restore is in progress, the restore operation is stopped and the operation must be restarted.
- Restoring to or from a cluster without a physical library
- If either the cluster that created the backup file or the cluster that is performing the restore
operation do not possess a physical library, upon completion of the restore operation all physical
tape library settings are reset to default. One of the following warning messages is displayed on
the confirmation page:
The file was backed up from a system with a physical tape library attached but this cluster does not have a physical tape library attached. If you restore the file to this cluster, all the settings for physical tape library will have default values.
The file was backed up from a cluster without a physical tape library attached but this cluster has a physical tape library attached. If you restore the file to this cluster, all the settings for physical tape library will have default values.
Affected settings include:- Inhibit Reclaim Schedule
- Physical Volume Pools
- Physical Volume Ranges
- Restoring to or from a TS7720D
- If you backup or restore settings from or to a cluster with the data deduplication feature (a TS7720D ) but the other cluster does not possess the data deduplication feature (a TS7720 or TS7740) then some construct settings are reset to their defaults.
