RESTful API (read only information) A platform-independent programming interface that provides a way for external applications to manage TS7700. The TS7700 system information can be retrieved through a RESTful API using the TS7700 Management Interface user credentials and security settings.
Code signing and verification of executables A certificate is used to sign an installable package. Signing the certificate ensures during activation that the package is good and not corrupted, or the package is not changed.

TS7700 Advanced Object Store for DS8000
  • Improved workload agility for synchronous and asynchronous replication.
  • Simplified data replication and data migration with the automated processes.
  • Improved access to all the data across the grid irrespective of the cluster where the data is located.
  • Supports object compression, object encryption, and in conjunction with DS8000 and DFSMShsm delivers advanced object store functionality that replicates object store data across the grid.
  • Supports Grid Architecture for DS8000 objects.
  • The TS7700 clusters are aware of all the objects in the grid.
  • DFSMS CLOUDNAME construct is used for policy management.
    • Which disk cache partition?
    • How many copies and where do you want the copies?
    • Synchronous or asynchronous?
  • Automatic healing of changes during cluster outages.
  • FICON virtual volumes and DS8000 objects can co-exist in the same TS7700.
  • Additional MI and LI REQ integration.
  • Additional statistics and reports.
  • Bulk object creation provides improved performance over traditional S3 object store.
  • Object consistency groups for asynchronous replication.
    • Number of objects per consistency group.
    • Amount of data per consistency group.
    • Duration of object creation in consistency group.
  • No additional hardware is required as data moves through the existing grid interfaces between DS8000 and TS7770, and data is logically partitioned out of the existing resident cache.

SSD option for TS7770 cluster
  • Grow performance while you shrink your footprint.
  • Up to 5x faster data transfer. Two SSD drawers deliver similar to better performance as 10 SAS HDDs drawers.
  • Start the flash infrastructure with as little as 20 TB flash usable capacity and expand to 120 TB with capacity on demand.
  • Full compatibility with TS7770 Grid.
  • Ideal for workloads with high performance or low latency I/O requirements.
CUIR IB
  • Grid resiliency uses thresholds and other methods to determine an unhealthy TS7700 cluster in a grid and then fences the cluster within the grid.
  • Enables a cluster to notify attached z/OS hosts to automatically vary off devices ahead of a planned outage.
  • z/OS is notified of unhealthy clusters.
  • When a cluster is fenced, any cluster that is connected to the same host as the unhealthy cluster notifies the attached hosts through CUIR.
  • Host then auto-varies offline devices to the unhealthy cluster.
  • A single sick cluster can also notify its own attached hosts that it is sick.
  • Post outage, the unhealthy cluster then notifies the host to auto-vary the devices back online after it recovered.
