Port details and health

The port view displays details and health for cluster ports. Click the reverse view arrow at the bottom right corner of the main cluster image to open the port view.

Hover over a port to display details and health information. Table 1 describes information that can be shown on the port view. Ports that are affected by an event are highlighted and marked by an alert icon. Click the alert icon to launch the Events panel and review details of the event.
Note: If an Ethernet router shows an increasing number of errors, two network devices may be using different duplex or speed negotiation methods. A Service Call Home can be initiated. Refer to the management interface event HYDIN0641E for additional information.

Port Description
Grid Network On the Ethernet tab. The ports that are used for Ethernet grid network connection. Two or four ports are displayed, depending on installed features. Click a port to open the Network Settings panel for the port. Hover over a port to show more details:
  • Health status
  • Negotiated link speed
  • Current read and write speed
  • Link state health
  • Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors between clusters in the grid
  • IP address
  • MAC address
If network acceleration was ever enabled, Network Acceleration Status is also shown and can be enabled or disabled in the hover window. Possible values include:
  • None (0)
  • Low (1)
  • Medium (2)
  • Custom (3)
Note: If DS8000 off load is enabled, read and write speed may include DS8000 off load activity.
Customer Network On the Ethernet tab. The ports that are used for connection to the customer network. Port types that are shown are Virtual and Physical. Click a port to open the Network Settings panel for the port. Hover over a port to show more details:
  • Health status
  • IP address
Note: If the accessing cluster operates with a 3957-V06 or 3957-VEA, the health status for the Virtual port is not displayed.
Internal Network On the Ethernet tab. The ports that are used to attach external components to a TS7700 Server. Hover over a port to show more details:
  • Health status
  • Local IP address
  • TSSC health
Host FICON On the Host FICON tab. The ports that are used to attach a host to a TS7700 Server. Hover over a port to show more details, including:
  • Health status; possible values are:
    Normal
The connection between the host and server is working as expected.
    Degraded
The connection is working, but performance may be degraded.
    Error
An error occurred; the connection may be inaccessible.
    Unknown
The status of the connection is unknown.
    Offline
The FICON adapter is offline. No connection exists.
  • Drawer: either primary or alternate
  • FICON card or slot number
  • Adapter hardware type
  • Worldwide node and port names
  • Configured speed
  • Negotiated speed
  • Local node ID*
  • Remote node ID*
