Configure Autonomic Ownership Takeover mode

Use this page to configure ownership takeover mode settings for one or more remote clusters in the IBM® TS7700 Grid.

Note: An IBM service representative must configure the TSSC IP addresses for each cluster in the grid before AOTM can be enabled and configured for any cluster in the grid.
Information displayed includes:
Remote Cluster
A list of all remote clusters in the grid, regardless of connection, takeover, or health status. Virtual volumes owned by remote clusters shown can be taken over by the accessing cluster. Cluster identity is shown using this format:
"Cluster Nickname[Cluster ID]" (#Distributed Library Sequence Number)
Takeover State
Whether AOTM is enabled on the given remote cluster.
Possible values are:
  • Enabled
  • Disabled
When AOTM is enabled for a given, remote cluster, that cluster is added to the Autonomic Ownership Takeover Mode Configuration table on the Ownership takeover mode page.
Note: In this definition Enabled does not necessarily mean that AOTM is currently in use, only that it is configured for the cluster and ready for use if necessary. Note that WOT and ROT (Write/Read Ownership Takeover) occur when a machine is in service, even if AOTM is not configured between the grid machines.
When the Takeover State is Enabled, the following AOTM settings can be configured:
Takeover Mode
The type of ownership applied to the remote cluster. Possible values are:
  • Read-Only
  • Read-Write
Refer toTable 1 on the Ownership takeover mode page for a comparison of read-only and read-write ownership takeover modes.
Grace Period
The amount of time the accessing cluster waits for a remote cluster to respond across the grid before attempting an AOTM handshake. This value can be between 10 and 1000 minutes. The default value is 25 minutes.
Retry Period
The amount of time the accessing cluster waits between attempts to determine whether the remote cluster is online. This value can be between 5 and 100 minutes. The default value is 5 minutes.
To enable or disable ownership takeover mode for a specific cluster in the grid:
  1. In the Remote Cluster column, locate the remote cluster to be changed.
  2. Use the drop-down menus to modify values for ownership takeover settings.
  3. Click OK to accept the changed values. Click Cancel to abandon the operation and return to the Ownership takeover mode page.
