TS7770 specifications and requirements

The following specifications and requirements are specific to the TS7770 and its components.

The Tape Frame (3948-F07 or 3952-F07/F06) houses the components of the TS7770.

When designated as a TS7770 Base Frame (FC 7335 or FC 7337, TS7700 Encryption-capable base frame), the 3948-F07 or 3952-F07/F06 contains the following components:
  • TS7770 Server (3948-VED or 3957-VED) (includes control unit and 2 I/O drawers)
  • TS7770 Cache Controller (3948-CSB or 3956-CSB)
  • TS7770 Cache Drawer(s) (3948-XSB or 3956-XSB) Internal power distribution units
Note: The standard 3952 Tape Frame ships with one internal power distribution unit. However, FC 1904 is required to provide two power distribution units to support the availability characteristics of the TS7770.
If FC 7333, TS7700 Encryption-capable base frame FC 7335 or FC 7337, TS7700 Encryption-capable base frame is installed, the TS7770 Base Frame has these physical specifications when fully configured.
When designated as a TS770 Storage Expansion Frame (FC 7334, TS7700 Encryption Capable Expansion Frame FC 7336 or FC 7338, TS7700 Encryption Capable Expansion Frame the 3948-F07 or 3952-F07/F06 contains the following components:
  • TS7770 Cache Controllers (3948-CSB or 3956-CSB)
  • TS7770 Cache Drawer(s) (3948-XSB or 3956-XSB)
Note: FC 9336, R5 Expansion Frame Attachment is also required to attach the base and expansion frames.

If FC 7336, TS7700 Encryption-capable expansion frame is installed the TS7770 Storage Expansion Frame has these physical specifications when fully configured:The distance between a TS7770 Storage Expansion Frame and the TS7770 Base Frame cannot exceed 10 meters. This distance permits connection of the frames by using a 30-meter cable.
