Copy storage group

Use this page to copy a storage group construct used in the IBM® TS7700 Grid. You can also use this page to copy a storage group from the accessing cluster to other clusters in the grid.

Copy a storage group from this cluster to other clusters in the grid.

Use the copy to clusters option to copy a storage group from the active cluster to other clusters in the grid.

Note: For remote or local cloud migration, the constructs settings applicable are the ones of the mounting cluster.

Restriction: Both clusters in the grid must operate the same level of microcode.

From the Storage Groups page, navigate to the Storage Groups table.
Select the storage group to be copied.
Select Copy to Clusters from the Select Action drop-down menu.
Click Go to open the Copy to Clusters page.
Select each cluster to which the storage group are copied.
Click OK on the confirmation page to complete the operation.

If a remote cluster is offline, in service mode, or in service prep mode, the selected storage group cannot be copied to that cluster and storage groups on the remote cluster remain unchanged following the copy to clusters operation.

Important: If a storage group on a remote cluster exists with a name identical to a storage group being copied, the existing storage group is overwritten by the copy to clusters operation. The confirmation page displays the existing storage group to be overwritten.

Copy a storage group on this cluster

From the Storage Groups page, navigate to the Storage Groups table.
Select the storage group to be copied.
Select Copy from the Select Action drop-down menu.
Click Go to open the Copy Storage Group page.
Enter values for the following fields:
Name
The name of the storage group. The value in this field must be between 1 and 8 characters in length. Each storage group within a cluster or cluster pair must have a unique name. Valid characters for this field are:

A-Z, 0-9, $, @, and #
```
The first character of this field cannot be a number. This is the only field that cannot be modified once added.
Description

A description of the storage group.
No other fields can be modified on this page. Once the storage group copy has been created, you can use the Modify Storage Group page to modify values for any additional fields.

Click OK to create the storage group copy and return to the Storage Groups page, or click Cancel to abandon the copy operation and return to the Storage Groups page.
