Delete virtual volumes

Use this page to delete unused virtual volumes from the IBM® TS7700.

To view the list of unused virtual volume ranges in the TS7700 Grid:
  1. Enter start and end VOLSERs in the fields next to Show unused volume ranges between.
  2. Click Show.
You can cancel an in-progress virtual volume range deletion from the Tasks page.
Note: A valid volume serial number (VOLSER) is a 6-digit sequence number composed only of uppercase alphabetic characters [A-Z] and numerals in the range [0-9]. Embedded blank spaces cannot be used.
Important: An unused virtual volume is a volume in the insert category (FF00) that has not been mounted by a host or has had its category, constructs, or attributes changed by a host. If the virtual volumes have been used they need to be in a scratch category and then moved to eject (FF10). Certain volumes can be moved back to the insert category by the host or through damaged token recovery. These volumes are not deleted through either option available on this page.
