Syslog Server

The tape library creates a log of system events as they occur. The tape library can be configured to send a notification of each event to a customer-provided syslog (system log) server.

Events can be filtered by severity level (error, warning, and/or informational); see Event categories for details. Use the Settings > Notifications > Syslog Server page to:
  • Specify the IP address of the syslog server.
  • Specify the server port ID (the default is 514).
  • Specify the severity level of events that are to be sent to the syslog server.

When system events occur, the library creates a log of these events. You can configure the library to send syslog notifications and send a notification of the event to the syslog server. The syslog server, a client-provided server, keeps its own log of system events.

Note: Use port 6514 with TCP protocol. The Syslog server must also be configured with TCP. Also encrypted private keys are not supported.
