Using the Google Chrome Extension

If you installed Rapport version 1945 or later using Chrome, the extension is automatically enabled. If you installed Rapport using a different browser, follow the steps described in this section.

After installing Rapport, an additional step is required to enable the Rapport extension for the Chrome browser.

The extension must be enabled with the following procedure:

Procedure

  1. Install Rapport as described in the previous sections.
  2. Open Chrome and on the Enable extension dialog, click Enable extension.
    Note: If Chrome was already open during the installation, you must restart it. The Chrome extension is enabled and navigation is protected.
  3. If you do not see the message, click the orange Chrome menu, and then click New extension added (IBM® Security Rapport).

    The Enable extension dialog appears and you can click Enable extension.

    The Rapport Chrome extension is now enabled.

    The gray Rapport icon appears in the toolbar. The Rapport icon is colored green when navigating to your banking site to indicate that the site is protected.

Enabling the Chrome Extension

About this task

If you did not click Enable extension when installing Rapport, or the extension is disabled, you can enable the extension at any time with the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the menu button, click More tools, and then click Extensions.

    The Extensions screen appears.

  3. Locate the Rapport extension in the list, and select the Enable check box.

    The Rapport Chrome extension is now enabled and you will see the gray Rapport icon in the toolbar.

    The Rapport icon is colored green when navigating to your banking site to indicate that the site is protected.

Installing the Chrome Extension

If you clicked Remove from Chrome when prompted to enable the extension, or if you removed the extension and need to reinstall it, follow these steps:

Procedure

  1. Open the Rapport Console
  2. In the Product Settings area, next to Chrome extension, click Install Chrome extension.
    Note: If Google Chrome is not set as your default browser, the link will open in whichever browser is set as default. Copy the URL from the address bar and paste it into a Chrome browser to continue.

  3. You will be directed to the Google Chrome web store. Click Add to Chrome to add the extension to your browser.

  4. At the prompt, click Add extension.

    The extension is installed. You might need to restart the browser to show the Rapport icon.
