Is Rapport compatible with screen readers?

Rapport has a special installation mode for compatibility with screen readers and is tested for compatibility with JAWS 11 and Window-Eyes.

If you need to use Rapport with screen readers, click Advanced and select the I have a visual impairment, color blindness and/or regularly use assistive screen reading technologies check box in the installation wizard.

When you select the check box, a message appears with the following text:

Installing in this mode may suppress some of Trusteer Endpoint Protection's protective functions and is recommended ONLY for visually impaired individuals who use screen reader assistive technologies such as Windows JAWS.
Choose 'Standard Install' if you do not regularly use assistive screen reader technologies.

Click Screen Reader Required to continue.

This installation mode enables compatible screen readers to narrate Rapport menus and dialogs and ensures that Rapport does not prevent screen readers from narrating browser contents. It also disables the code challenge security dialogs that appear when you stop or uninstall Rapport and require you to identify letters that are embedded in an image.

When Rapport is installed in screen reader compatibility mode, the following Rapport security policies are disabled by default to allow screen reading software to access webpages:
  • Block Screen Capturing
  • Block Access to Information Inside the Browser
After installation, you can choose to activate these policies any time. When these policies are activated, Rapport might not allow screen reading software to access web pages. If you click Restore Defaults in the Security Policy screen, the settings are reset to the screen reader compatibility mode defaults.
